Calabar Carnival is back!


After a two year break, one of Africa’s largest street carnival, the Calabar Carnival will hold this year! The Carnival which was suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is set to start on December 1st to 31st 2022.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, the commissioner for culture and tourism development in Cross River State, Eric Anderson, stated that the Calabar Carnival, will return after a two-year break with seven competing bands up from five. Also, there will be different song and stage productions, award ceremony, choreography, music, power week, bikers day, beauty pageant, street parties, beach soccer, old school parties, among others during the carnival.

As the Calabar Carnival returns, all eyes will be on Cross Rivers state this December to see if the organizers will be able to put up a carnival that will further boost the image of the state as a choice tourism destination in Nigeria.
